Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties – Defying Fate Trophy Guide

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & DT

Yakuza is a series known for having a postgame boss fight against a secret clan known as the Amon Clan, and Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is no exception to that! Defying Fate trophy/achievement guide will cover all the unlock conditions for these fights, as well as the best way to handle them!

As always, be sure to check out our review of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties to see our thoughts about the game.

Part 1: Jo Amon

For the first part of this achievement, you’ll have a fight against series regular Jo Amon. To unlock this fight, there is 3 things you will need to have completed:

  • Have completed substories 1-30
  • Have defeated 36 Reapers
  • Have finished all colosseum battles

Once you have these 3 completed, you will get an email telling you to meet up in the mountains. You likely will have the majority of the upgrades already by this point, but be sure you have the majority of the health and attack upgrades as well, as this will be a long fight. For good measure, make sure that you have plenty of healing items.

During the fight, you will want to stay in Ryuku style, as Amon has 2 attacks you will need to block with the shield. He will either teleport to the other side of the arena and shoot a gun at you, parry this if you can to deal damage, otherwise just make sure you’re blocking so that you can at least decrease the damage you’re taking. For his other move, he will teleport to the middle of the arena and hit you with a gust of wind. As long as you stay still and block this, you won’t take any damage.

This will be a long fight, but thankfully, it isn’t too bad overall. For the rest of the fight, just parry the attacks you can. Once you have Dragon Boost, switch to dragon style and wail on him as much as you can, switch back to Ryuku once that is out, and repeat.

Part 2: Amon Riders

To unlock the fight with the Amon Riders, you will need to complete the main story of Bad Boy Dragon, as well as finish any other turf war missions and all total annihilation battles. After that, you can challenge the Amon Riders, which is the toughest battle in the game.

Prep the Haisai Girls as best you can for the fight ahead.

For this fight, I’ll lay out the team composition I had, which baddie weapons to bring with you, and the general plan for the fight. These teams are built with the idea that you don’t have the preorder character or the deluxe edition characters, but if you do, just slot them in where necessary. You will want your characters either maxed out at level 50 or as close as possible. If you need some level-ups, run a basic turf mission, and then collect the Haisai points around the base. Once you have 120 points, buy a rally ticket and use it for some easy increases. Use the tokens to increase a character’s level cap if they don’t default to max at level 50.

Boss Squad:

  • Leader: Tsubasa(unlocked by default)
  • Squad member: Shigeru Nakara(unlocked by completing Kiwami 3)

  • Squad member: Shuto the Elder(unlocked during the Okinawa story of Bad Boy Dragon)

  • Squad member: Yuya(unlocked by completing substory )
  • Squad member: Dawg Boi(unlocked during the Okinawa story of Bad Boy Dragon)

  • Squad member: Ikari(unlocked by completing Dark Ties)
  • Squad member: Tsuyoshi Kanda(unlocked by completing Dark Ties)
  • Squad member: Koyuki(unlocked by winning at the raffle)
  • Squad member: Yoshitaka Mine(unlocked by completing Dark Ties)

Squad 3:

  • Squad member: Lala Aizawa(unlocked by becoming full Lalala friends)
  • Squad member: Kazuki(unlocked by completing substory )
  • Squad member: Sakura(unlocked during the Okinawa story of Bad Boy Dragon)
  • Squad member: Goh Hamazaki(unlocked by completing Kiwami 3)

Baddie Weapons:

  • Laser Cannon(Tier 3 weapon)
  • Magical Mic(tier 1 healing)
  • Funky Beats(tier 2 healing)
  • Party-Hearty Car(Tier 3 healing)

Alright, once you are ready to start, you will want to make sure you follow Tsubasa along her path, picking up any cases for your weapons. Try to quickly knock out a leader or two here, and then you want to leave and drive over to whichever squad is struggling the most. You should have picked up enough cases here to use the tier one healing item, if it’s needed. Repeat the same thing, defeat 1 or 2 of the leaders, and head to another squad if needed. You want to make sure you don’t lose any squad leaders, as you’ll have a huge disadvantage in the final fight.

Once you get past the first round with every squad, you will want to drive around and stock up on as many cases as you can. Your ultimate goal is to have your squads fully healed going into the last fight, as well as have enough for a tier 3 weapon ready to go. When you get to the Amon brothers, stick to Ryuku style and seek out the 3 bosses. You’re going to solely focus on them, using the punch move to trigger the heat special move.

When you have Dragon Boost, switch to dragon style, activate it, and get as much damage done as you can here. Heal when necessary, and if your squads are healthy, feel free to trigger the Laser cannon to deal a huge amount of damage. Don’t worry about the grunt enemies, because as soon as all 3 bosses are defeated, the fight will end, and the Amon Brothers will all say they want to train and become like Kiryu, so that they can defeat you the next time!

And that is it for the Defying Fate trophy/achievement! We hope this guide helped you with these two late-game fights, and be sure to check out our other guides for Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties!
