Despite the looming shadow of Grand Theft Auto 6, there are still plenty of other AAA games anticipated for release in 2026. One is Insomniac Games’ PS5 exclusive action-adventure game Marvel’s Wolverine, which has now suddenly received a release date announcement.
Marvel’s Wolverine was originally announced in a PlayStation Showcase event alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in 2021. This specific showcase occurred within the first year of the PS5’s lifecycle. The game is Insomniac’s first foray into the X-Men side of the Marvel universe. The story follows Logan on a standalone journey that crosses paths with other Mutants from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s beloved comic franchise.
Strangely, Sony and Insomniac Games announced today that Marvel’s Wolverine will release exclusively for PS5 consoles on September 15, 2026. No other information or new footage was revealed. Nor has there been an entry on the PlayStation Blog with further details.
Our last look at Marvel’s Wolverine was during September 2025’s State of Play showcase. At this time, it was revealed that the game would release in ‘Fall 2026’. Now that a date has been locked in, it seems that Sony and Insomniac are looking to steer clear of Grand Theft Auto 6‘s November 19th launch. Either way, it remains to be seen when fans will get another new look at the upcoming Marvel Comics adaptation.
