Silent Hill Townfall Teases Cursed British Town in Reveal Trailer

Screen Burn and Annapurna Interactive’s Silent Hill: Townfall has remained shrouded in a foggy haze since its reveal during October 2022’s Silent Hill Transmission event. Now, ahead of a new dedicated showcase set to air later today, the game has received its first full trailer at Sony’s State of Play event.

Silent Hill Townfall is a first-person horror game following a man named Simon Ordell. Simon is returning to his hometown of St. Amelia, which is becoming enraptured by a curse. Here, he must fight and survive his way through monsters using a “CRTV” device to detect enemies.

The reveal trailer seems to show the town becoming cursed like the locations of Silent Hill: The Short Message and Silent Hill f, meaning this is another entry to take place outside of its titular setting. Like The Short Message and P.T., this entry will play entirely from a first-person, with the developer claiming that there will be no third-person option. The game will also feature light combat elements.

The CRTV device looks like it functions similarly to the scanner in Alien: Isolation. Screen Burn claims it is “a useful tool in encounters – allowing Simon to ‘see’ through the environment and locate nearby threats – but it also picks up signals from around the town that unveil more of the story and even help guide Simon through some of the other challenges he faces.”

There is more to come at the Silent Hill Townfall focused Silent Hill Transmission, set to air soon following Sony’s State of Play event. Gamer Social Club will have coverage of the event shortly after it concludes, where Konami is expected to reveal more details of the upcoming first-person horror game.

Silent Hill: Townfall will release in 2026. Be sure to check out the rest of our State of Play Coverage here as well.
