With just over a month until we see the finale of Life is Strange duo, Max and Chloe’s story in Life is Strange: Reunion, developer Deck Nine have revealed how Chloe is alive for the climax. Spoilers ahead!
In the original Life is Strange, players had the end-game choice to either save Chloe or the game’s town, Arcadia Bay. It was an incredibly difficult and emotional decision that divided players hearts. Many players will have chosen to save the town with the benefit of Max’s powers, leaving Chloe to pass away.
With Life is Strange: Reunion around the corner, and the return of Chloe, players who chose to see her die in the original are wondering how on earth she’s back. Well, now we know.
In a new explainer trailer, we learn that as a result of Max altering time in the series most recent entry, Double Exposure to save Safi, she also altered Chloe’s timeline too. With Max merging timelines in Double Exposure, it also combined the timescales of where Chloe lived or died too.
The return of fan favourite, Chloe will be divisive with fans. Although a series icon, this does suggest that choices we made in the original were meaningless. Further, Chloe will be voiced by a different actress to the original games, with Ashly Burch not reprising her role.
Life is Strange: Reunion launches on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5 and PC on March 26 2026.
