A newly released trailer has revealed new details for Styx: Blades of Greed, the next stealth-focused action-adventure from French studio Cyanide and the third entry in the Styx series.
The game is set shortly after the previous instalment. Styx escapes Korrangar, the city of the Dark Elves, and heads into a growing conflict sparked by Quartz, a powerful and dangerously unstable resource. In a press release, the studio says Styx “leaves Korrangar… and takes to the skies aboard a zeppelin with a makeshift crew”, with the goal of securing Quartz as tensions rise between humans, elves, and orcs.
The trailer positions the Inquisition as the central threat. Cyanide describes them as “a ruthless human faction determined to eradicate other races”, and says Styx is “relentlessly pursued” as he races to keep Quartz out of their hands.
Players will travel across the continent of Iserian, with the trailer highlighting a mix of large, vertical environments and distinct regions. Locations mentioned in the press release include the floating ruins of Akenash, “once the heart of the World Tree”, now overrun by goblins and amber-corrupted elves; The Wall, a vast fortress of the Human Empire guarded by elite soldiers and inquisitors; and the Turquoise Dawn, a dense jungle battered by war where hostile plant life and exotic creatures make every step hazardous.
Styx will not be alone. The trailer introduces a band of outcasts, including Helledryn, Djarak, and Wren. Completing their quests is said to unlock upgrades that improve Styx’s abilities, tools, and stealth skills, giving players more ways to infiltrate and improvise.
On the gameplay side, Cyanide says the focus is still on player freedom and creative problem-solving. The new trailer puts an emphasis on movement and vertical exploration, with new tools such as a grappling hook and glider, alongside expanded powers, to help players slip past traps, enemies, and the Inquisition’s defences.
Cyanide also frames this chapter as an important bridge in the wider universe. The press release says it “lays the groundwork for the Great War” and “marks the rise of the Black Hand”, the mercenary group that later becomes central to Of Orcs and Men.
