Horror and thriller games are really having a moment as of late. It’s not just the quantity of them releasing, but also the quality too. In the last 18 months we have seen stellar titles including Silent Hill f, Silent Hill 2 Remake and Karma: The Dark World. With Resident Evil: Requiem releasing in just under a month too, the year is looking promising for the horror / thriller genre.
Developer, One-O-One Games – known for creating the famed and atmospheric The Suicide of Rachel Foster – have now announced new psychological mystery thriller, The Alighieri Circle: Dante’s Bloodline. The game which is inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy poem will be launching later this year on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. A demo will be available as part of the Steam Next Fest in February.
The Alighieri Circle Dante’s Bloodline Announce Trailer
The announce trailer looks like a true nightmare, which as protagonist, Gariele Alighieri, we will live as look to play out our inherited duty, closing the gates of Hell. The game will feature two worlds which will deliver the nightmare – the haunting ‘Villa’ which could easily be mistaken for Resident Evil: Biohazard’s manor; and ‘The Dive’ where Gabriel will “Cross the threshold into a distorted reflection of the infernal depths.”,
The Alighieri Circle will feature thematic puzzle solving, walking simulator-like sections and more as we traverse Hell, which the game says “is not a place of fire; it is a mirror of your soul.”. This certainly looks like one to watch.
If you’re looking for more psychological thrillers to get stuck into, be sure to check out last month’s Sleep Awake from Blumhouse Games which we enjoyed in our review and have a full achievement / trophy guide for. Blumhouse are also planning to release Crisol: Theater of Idols next month, also on PC and home consoles.
