High On Life 2 Gameplay Details Shared by Squanch Games

High On Life 2 launches in about 3 weeks now. If you haven’t been following, Squanch Games has been releasing details about the gameplay through IGN and just dropped a thread full of all the details on their X account.

By the looks of things early on, High On Life 2 could surpass its predecessor in terms of both its gameplay and comedy. Some people were curious how the humor would play out after the controversy surrounding Justin Roiland forced his departure but looking at the first hour of the game, the humor looks to be more than in tact along with the excellent voice cast returning as well as new VC’s like Ken Marino and Ralph Ineson.

The gameplay also looks to be expanding in two areas. When it comes to the fps aspect we see the introduction of new gatlians. For example, we see Travis and Jan who are a pair of dual wielded gatlians. There are also the flint turtles functioning like flame throwers or can be set up as sentry guns.

The metroidvania aspects of the game also look to have seen some expansion. There are three hub worlds as opposed to one in the first game and there’s a new traversal mechanic in the form of a skateboard in addition to the grappling hook and jetpack from the first game. Visually the game also looks to take a step up on its colorful and cartoonish art style as the cities and the aliens you encounter look even better.

The visual upgrade from the first game is very noticable.

Everything that Squanch Games announced is viewable on their Twitter thread. They know exactly how to build out the hype for this release and make us all wait very impatiently. Are you looking forward to the new weapons or perhaps the metroidvania area to dive right into?

High On Life 2 is releasing on February 13th for PC, PS5 and Xbox series platforms. Nintendo Switch 2 will see High on Life 2 release on April 20th. Let us know which platform you’ll be playing on in the comments below.

A lifelong gamer who enjoys playing on every platform. Eventually, I grew to love fighting games in particular and began to compete and even win competitions for some games, primarily the 2013 revival of killer instinct. Outside of gaming I also have aspirations of being a comic book artist with a few ideas of my own im developing in my head. When reviewing any game I try to keep my mind open and avoid nitpicking too much. It takes a lot for something to detract me from truly enjoying it so I may not focus on smaller details the way some others might do. I enjoy almost any genre, just don't ask me to play horror games or puzzle games.
