In the age of digital games going gold doesn’t quite mean what it did 10-15 years ago, but it is still an important step in the process. A game going gold should assure fans that they at least won’t see a delay coming to a game they want as the game is finished. Of course there will still likely be a day 1 patch as they continue to hone the game. Regardless, it is great to see.
Crimson Desert is a massive open world action-adventure game that originally was announced as an MMO. Since then the team at Pearl Abyss decided to go in a different direction and the game will now be a single player experience. You can see the elements of the MMO concept just by the sheer size of the map. Pearl Abyss has stated that the map is bigger than Red Dead Redemption 2 and twice the size of Skyrim.

Pearly Abyss describes the game as:
“Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure game developed by Pearl Abyss, aiming for a global release on console and PC platforms. A devastating ambush in the deep of night by their sworn enemies the Black Bears leaves members of the Greymanes dead or scattered across the continent. The Greymane Kliff is determined to reunite with his surviving comrades and rebuild what was lost. On a journey where alliances are forged, dangers abound, and mysterious factions are uncovered, Kliff comes to realize that an unprecedented threat and a destiny greater than he imagined await him.”

Crimson Desert will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC on March 19th. Pre-orders are already live and you can purchase the game digitally as well as a physical retail version.
