With Yakuza 3 & Dark Ties mere weeks away from launch, RGG Studio have announced that the existing edition of Yakuza 3 Remastered will be delisted from all store fronts – Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
In a statement on social media, RGG said “Those who already own “Yakuza 3 Remastered” will still be able to continue playing it. For those new to the series who wish to experience the original version, it will be available with purchase of the “Yakuza Complete Series” bundle.”.
The same happened with Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 when the new versions were released in December. At that time an upgrade path was announced, though at the time of writing there is no upgrade path announced for Yakuza 3 & Dark Ties. However, with Dark Ties including all around 10 hours of new, highly anticipated content it is unlikely any discount will be offered.
Dark Ties and Kiwami 3 will receive new combat styles when the game releases including the “Ryukyu” style, which is based on Okinawan martial arts. Also synonymous with the series are mini-games, and the re-release will include playable Game Gear games including some from Bandai Namco including Pac-Man and Galaga ’91.
Whilst we don’t know what the next full release in the series will be, RGG Studio Head, Masayoshi Yokoyama has previously teased that the future of the franchise will be teased with Yakuza 3’s re-release.
Yakuza 3 & Dark Ties launches on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC on February 12 2026.
