Wishfully Studios Shows Off 10 Minutes of Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf Gameplay

Planet of Lana captured the hearts of many when it released in 2023. When a sequel was announced last year during the Xbox Games Showcase, fans were delighted to get another chance to jump into such a lovely indie game. Today, developer Wishfully Studios and publisher Thunderful have shown a new gameplay video, giving us a peek into what we can expect later in 2026 for Planet of Lana 2: Childen of the Leaf.

First Look At Extended Gameplay

The 10 minute video shown exclusively at IGN shows Lana and Mui as they work together to make their way through Novo’s Northern Wastelands. Visually it is much darker and grittier than the first game, as the area has been turned into a Robot Graveyard. The end of the video shows a mural on the wall with a woman holding a familiar symbol as a giant robot and other humans look on. Fans of the first game should immediately recognize the symbol.

In terms of what the video shows us, it looks like Planet of Lana 2 will play very much like the original game. Players will use Mui to help Lana navigate the worlds puzzles and avoid the robots that still patrol the area in a side scrolling adventure. Wishfully has said we can expect a wider variety of puzzles and some new game mechanics, so it will be exciting to see what they can come up with.

A slice of beauty in a darker setting

I’ll also be curious to see if Planet of Lana 2 sticks with this darker visual theme for the entirety of the game. Planet of Lana was known for its beautiful, vibrant world despite its darker story. There are some elements in this video that suggests at times we will see some more vibrant colours as the world shines through, but we will have to wait and see.

Key Features

  • Unique, Evolved Companion Gameplay: Experience Lana and Mui’s profound, evolving bond. Guide Mui with enhanced precision for deep exploration and collaborative puzzle-solving.
  • Solve Diverse & Clever Puzzles: Tackle a wider array of physics-based puzzles, including hypnotizing spectacular creatures and controlling new hybrid robots for unique solutions.
  • Master Stealth & Wit: Carefully navigate dangerous situations using refined stealth mechanics and tactical wit to outsmart foes.
  • Survive Challenging Action Sequences: Use your reflexes and master Lana’s new agility with wall jumps, run-slides, and faster movement to survive thrilling, dynamic action sequences.
  • Discover an Epic & Deeper Story: Immerse in a longer, more profound sci-fi saga. Confront Lana’s own demons and unveil the planet’s darkest secrets across stunning, diverse worlds, including new underwater chapters.
  • Return of an Acclaimed Composer: Experience Takeshi Furukawa’s critically acclaimed score, from the original Planet of Lana. His mesmerizing compositions seamlessly elevate every emotional beat and cinematic moment.

Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf will launch sometime in early 2026. It will be available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 5 PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
