One the industry’s premiere CRPG developers, Larian are returning to the Divinity series for their next title following 2023 juggernaut, Baldur’s Gate 3 which continues to thrive across PC and console, as well as handhelds like the Steam Deck.
Currently titled ‘Divinity’, the new role playing game witnessed a phenomenal reveal at The Game Awards in 2025. With a mysterious monument placed in the desert in the run up to the show, followed by an on-stage performance and a horrific reveal trailer which you can see below. It’s not one for the kids.
Divinity Reveal Trailer
With many unanswered questions about the game, developer Larian Studios recently hosted a Reddit AMA to kick off the new year. When asked whether they will bring the new Divinity to Switch 2, Technical Director, Bert van Semmertier said: “We have just released Divinity Original Sin 2 for Switch 2! We love the platform and we will certainly consider Switch 2 for the next Divinity game”.
Larian are accustomed to developing large scale RPGs which can often take in excess of one hundred hours to complete, leading many players to want to take their games on the go. The two Divinity Original Sin titles and Baldur’s Gate 3 are Steam Deck verified – with Baldur’s Gate 3 consistently ranked in the top-10 of most played Steam Deck games.
Larian have already ruled out a Switch 2 port of Baldur’s Gate 3, with little explanation given. Though, with Larian already developing a Switch 2 cohort of players for Divinity with the Original Sin 2 release, it may be surprising if we don’t see the new Divinity on Nintendo’s hybrid console.
