You won’t be lost for things to do in Davy X Jones, as you guide the eponymous dead duo on their quest for revenge against Captain Blackbeard and their mutinous crew, the cause of their death and decapitation. Alongside exploring the nine islands of the Locker and taking part in sky battles aboard Abby, your Behemoth vessel, there are several collectables and challenges to undertake, as well as achievements. Five-Finger Legend Achievement Guide
Humiliating Davy in a Face Off duel can be unlocked at any time after you have collected your two weapons, Swordbane and Gundrake.
After a short cutscene, our devious duo wake up in a new location. Davy will challenge Jones to an impromptu game of Slaps; this is a Face Off duel. (This is a bit like a tutorial where the result doesn’t matter, and we can’t unlock the Five-Finger Legend achievement yet.)
After this introductory slapfest, you can hold down the X Button to have a one-on-one with Davy (you’ll get a prompt to do it at some point). The screen will take on a blue/green filter, and you will be given a few options to pick from. Select Face Off duel to challenge your toothy chum to another round of Slaps.
The rules are simple: whoever gets slapped five times first loses. Your options are pulling the right trigger to slap Davy and pulling the left trigger to block an incoming slap from Davy. This isn’t a hard mini-game, but we have a couple of pointers if you are struggling to lay a hand on Davy.
There is no turn order to this game, so don’t hold back, especially because your block will cancel your attack. This is great if Davy tries to attack you mid-slap, because he’s quick with that tentacle!
Davy will try to block your slap, and when he does, expect a slap in retaliation. Block his incoming attack, telegraphed by his twisting his tentacle before whipping at you from the left, and fire back immediately with a slap, which is guaranteed to land. We call this move the Turning Tide!
Lastly, and this is a risky one, but sometimes you can land a follow-up slap to a successful one, giving this bonehead the Ol’ One Two! This isn’t guaranteed, so be ready for a counterattack.
Keep trying until you have beaten Davy in your first Face Off duel after the tutorial match; you will unlock the Five-Finger Legend achievement!
