While 2025 is quickly closing out and award season is beginning, there are still plenty of game releases coming in the final weeks of the year. One such title is Skate Story, a stunning new skateboarding game from publisher Devolver Digital, which just announced that the game will debut as part of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue.
Skate Story comes from Sam Eng, a solo indie developer, who initially announced the game all the way back in 2022. Since then, it has suffered two delays, originally being planned for 2023 before slipping to 2024 and now finally gearing up for release on December 8, 2025.
The game is an artistic skateboarding game that follows a demon who has been tasked by the devil himself – skate to the moon and swallow it in exchange for their soul. It’s safe to assume that the story matches the abstract craziness of its visuals.
Sony and Devolver Digital have announced that Skate Story will join the PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue for Extra and Premium members the day it releases. PlayStation has also released a detailed preview of the game on the PlayStation Blog to accompany the announcement.
While it doesn’t receive nearly as many day-one titles as its contemporary counterpart, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Sony’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue has had a respectable number of games debut as part of the service in 2025. Some of these games include one of the highest rated games of 2025, Blue Prince, Don’t Nod’s Lost Records: Bloom and Rage, and Giant Squid’s Sword of the Sea.
Skate Story will release on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and PS5 on December 8th.
