Skate Story finally gets a release date!

We’ve known about Skate Story for some time now, since its initial announcement during Devolver Digital’s Public Access Holiday Special in December 2022. Fast forward to yesterday, their official X account teased a release date!

We all love announcements of future announcements, right?

It turns out, we wouldn’t need to wait for too long to hear the exciting news: after 3 years since its announcement, Skate Story will be released on December 8, 2025! It will have a PlayStation 5, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2!

Skate Story is a game by Sam Eng and published by Devolver Digital that blends skateboarding with surreal, narrative-driven elements. It’s set in a dreamy, melancholic world where you navigate through a variety of environments on your skateboard. The game combines exploration, skate tricks, and a reflective storyline that delves into themes of self-discovery and inner struggles.

Its tagline, “You are a demon, made out of glass and pain,” intending to complete the task the Devil has given you: to Skate to the Moon and swallow it, giving you your freedom. You must push through hell and discover The Devil’s greatest weakness: humility, perseverance, and a disgustingly sweet backside tail slide.

Along the surreal vibes will be the hypnotic beats as you cruise through The Underworld to a psychedelic soundtrack by enigmatic New York artist Blood Cultures, and additional tracks by John Fio.

We’ve been holding our breath, almost worried that this game may never come out, but the constant updates we get and our patience have finally paid off!
