At the GSC, we are always trying our best to keep track of games that pique our interest. One of those games is Lelu, a small action-adventure game made by solo developer Janie Rowan, which has just released a demo on Steam.
Check out the demo announcement trailer below.
According to the game’s press release:
“Lelu is a cute and bite-sized action-adventure game about a small clockwork toy who gains consciousness …and the desire for freedom. Players will explore a sprawling, labyrinthian toy factory filled with puzzles, combat and dangers as you search for the way out!“
Inspired by titles such as Zelda and Metroid, players will explore diverse environments, from haunted basements to mysterious laboratories, finding new gear and items to help them on their quest while dealing with deadly traps and battling other hostile toys and colossal clockwork titans!
What makes Lelu really stand out to us is its monochromatic 8-bit art style, which brings the nostalgic Nintendo Game Boy aesthetic into the modern day by blending traditional pixel art with smooth 3D animations.

Lelu is currently set to release in Q2 2026, with no fixed release date announced as of yet. It also seems that the demo will only be available for a limited time, with the announcement post on the game’s Steam page stating it will end on Thursday, December 4th.
We wanted to highlight the demo for Lelu now, as it may not be available when we release our next issue of the GSC Demo Disc, so try it now before it’s too late!
