Ys X: Proud Nordics Announces Western Release Date

JRPG fans are already familiar with the struggles of balancing their backlogs, with quality hundred-hour games in the genre dropping at an almost weekly rate. For example, I among others missed out on 2024’s Ys X: Nordics, despite being a moderate fan of the series. Thankfully, the game’s upcoming expanded re-release Ys X: Proud Nordics has been confirmed for a western release in February 2026.

Ys X: Proud Nordics is an enhanced version of 2024’s latest mainline entry in Nihon Falcom’s long-running action JRPG series. The game once again follows series protagonist Adol as he and his new companion Karja travel across Obelia Gulf.

Today, NIS America has announced that the new version, which originally released in Japan on Nintendo Switch 2 in July and PC in August, will release on February 20, 2026. The game will also now release for PlayStation 5 worldwide alongside previous platforms, however there does not seem to be an upgrade path for previous owners of Ys X: Nordics.

What’s New in Proud Nordics?

Proud Nordics retains all of the content of its original release while also incorporating new elements such as a new storyline blended throughout the original narrative, a high-difficulty dungeon, and new character abilities.

Nihon Falcom has reported great success from the release of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter which helms from its other tentpole RPG series, The Legend of Heroes, after the remake released worldwide in September 2025. The Ys series has yet to share the same worldwide success, but both series’ have enjoyed a cult status for over 30 years. Hopefully Proud Nordics gives the Ys series its breakout moment with its extra level of content when it debuts in February.

Ys X: Proud Nordics will release for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and PlayStation 5 on February 20, 2026.
