Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Confirmed to Launch in 2026

Following the success of Falcom’s well-reviewed Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter remake (currently with a Metacritic score of 88%), it shouldn’t be a shock that a remake of the sequel, fittingly titled Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, is on the docket.

Fans of the 2004 original PC release were already well aware that the sequel existed and would almost certainly get the remake treatment. In fact, a trailer was already unveiled at the conclusion of the first game, so fans knew for sure that the second adventure of Estelle and Joshua Bright was on the way. The news was confirmed in Falcom’s recent financial report. It was also confirmed that fans will only have to wait until September 2026 to get their hands on it. The company confirmed it will be released by the end of its financial year next year!

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter

The reintroduction of the Bright family was released on September 19th, 2025, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Switch. It is already being mentioned as among the best RPGs of the year. Not to mention, as one of the highest-rated games of 2025 in general. Long-time Trails fans loved the graphics, battle system, music, and quality-of-life improvements. And they are certainly eager for new fans to discover a much-loved series from the start.

With the release of the remake, a 13 game series, spanning around 1000 hours of continuous, connected story finally has a shiny, new starting point for younger JRPG enthusiasts.

The quick turnaround between games will almost surely help maintain excitement for the franchise. As well as the genre as a whole. I suspect it will earn Falcom even more goodwill and appreciation from the fandom too.

Find out why Trails fans consider the second game to be one of the best in the entire franchise when the remake of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter releases in September 2026!

Platforms for the sequel have yet to be confirmed.

I moved from the US to Prague back in 2010. Since then I've been the main English teacher and coordinator at a few schools, got myself a family, wrote a couple of children's books with my wife, experienced a good amount of homelessness (best diet ever), and through everything, I've leaned on my love and passion for gaming. I've gone from impressing my dad on the Atari to my students calling me a middle aged gamer and now I get to share my passion with my kids. Best artform ever.
