Another PlayStation first party release, another highly successful launch. Today Sony released their latest financial results for FY25 Q2 and PlayStation’s big release for the quarter, Ghost Of Yotei, is off to a strong start selling over 3 million units in its first month on sale.
Ghost of Yotei released October 2nd and as of November 2nd the game has amassed sales totaling 3.3 million units in its first 32 days on sale. To put that in some perspective the first title in the series, Ghost Of Tsushima sold 2.4 million units in its first 3 days on sale and 5 million in its first 4 months. Ghost of Tsushima however did launch during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when sales figures for games were way up due to everyone being in lockdown.

It will be interesting to see how well the game sells moving forward, however as of late Sony hasn’t been giving updates for sales figures beyond an initial announcement, so perhaps we will never find out. We haven’t heard updates on games like Astro Bot, Helldivers 2, Spider-Man 2 or God of War: Ragnarok in quite some time.
Fans and critics alike have been full of praise for Ghost of Yotei saying it has improved on Ghost of Tsushima. In our review of Yotei we gave it a 9 saying “While it might play it safe in some regards, Ghost of Yotei is a sequel that builds off the greatness of the first. Often feeling like a tale pulled straight from the American ‘Wild West’, the vibrant setting of a 17th century Ezo is the perfect backdrop for telling Atzu’s journey of vengeance against those that wronged her.”
These sales figures come as PlayStation gets ready to host a State of Play Japan showcase later today as the company looks to continue its momentum into 2026. We will be keeping our eyes peeled for what they may announce and will be covering it closely.
