If there is one thing that would make Sam’s journey that little bit better would be a backbone, so he could play the Director’s Cut of Death Stranding on his phone while he is connecting Australia.
This is the second time Kojima has teamed up with Backbone. Back in January 2024, tied with the Director’s Cut release of Death Stranding, Backbone released a gorgeous BB-themed special edition controller.
So, it’s no surprise they are at it again.
The Artifact
The Death Stranding 2 Backbone features Generation 2 technology. For those of you unfamiliar with the Backbone, the Gen-1 is still a very impressive controller that I have had for years, but you need to take your case off to connect it. With the Gen-2, Backbone has made it more compatible with phone cases, as well as improved the d-pad and face buttons.
The upgraded controller will feature premium metal d-pad and face buttons for that satisfying click.
Unfortunately, the Death Stranding 2 Backbone will only feature a USB-C connection, so it will fit any Android or iPhone 15 or above.
With an extremely limited number of 1350 units, the Death Stranding 2 Backbone comes in an individually numbered Pelican hardcase that looks like it fell straight off Sam’s pack.
Instantly start playing Death Stranding 2 or your other PlayStation games with the power of remote play, or if you’re feeling extra cheeky, you could load up Game Pass and cloud game to your hearts content.
Pre-orders go live on the Backbone website on November 6th.
Will you be trying to get one?
