Now, this is an announcement that I have been waiting for for some time. Today, Indonesia-based studio Strayflux and Singapore-based publisher Soft Source have announced the launch date for the coming puzzle-platformer As I Began to Dream. The date: November 20th, 2025.
In the Release Date Trailer that came out today, we’ve been given all the details around the game’s pending launch. The game itself will be coming to Steam, Epic Games Store, and Nintendo Switch.
As I Began to Dream is a hand-illustrated puzzle-platformer that focuses around a girl named Lily. As we follow Lily through a strange dream world, the game will explore the stages of grief. More specifically (following the “levels” of the stages of grief):
- Denial – A warm and familiar environment.
- Anger – A sand-whipped desert where the elements rage.
- Bargaining – A strange land, full of calculations that need to be made by Lily.
- Depression – Bleak and overwhelming, suffice it to say.
- Acceptance – The long and arduous journey will eventually bring the player here, with hope for the future.
Along the way, you will also be finding portrayals of Lily’s life. You’ll also spend time recovering fragments of her memories and discovering how she ended up in this world.
More on the Gameplay
As I Began to Dream, as a puzzle platformer, will provide players with a unique mechanic for manipulation of the environment. Playing as Lily, you’ll be able to swap, rotate, and move “blocks” of the environment, all while maneuvering through portals and avoiding enemies and atmospheric hazards.

As the story will be following a young girl named Lily, As I Began to Dream‘s art style is heavily influenced by children’s storybooks. It will be very much like wandering through a young person’s dreams, but also wandering through the world from the perspective of a child.

To accompany the gameplay and art style of As I Began to Dream, the soundtrack of the game will be composed by Indonesian composer JabFina. Overall, the game will feature 37 original tracks.
From a personal stance (and if you couldn’t tell), I am looking forward to this title. That being said, be sure to stay connected with Gamer Social Club for future coverage of this game!
