With Nintendo Switch 2 launching this year, it was much expected that it’d follow in the footsteps of its predecessor and release a seemingly endless wave of ports of titles that had released on other platforms.

With more power to play with, developers have already been putting the Switch 2 through its paces. Titles like the great Star Wars: Outlaws have released on the still fresh hardware in a solid port which utilises the hardware’s features; as well as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle coming to Switch 2 in 2026. All complimenting Nintendo’s own first-party titles that have seen the new-gen upgrade including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild; and Tears of the Kingdom.

Ubisoft have now confirmed that the latest Assassin’s Creed, Shadows will be coming to Switch 2 in time to be under the Christmas tree, with an official launch date of December 2 2025. The release includes all major updates, excluding recently released DLC, The Claws of Awaji.

Shadows was an excellent Assassin’s Creed that proved extra time in the oven can mean a much more polished open world.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows physical Switch 2

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch in physical and digital forms. The game will launch as a controversial Game-Key Card – which Nintendo had recently surveyed Switch 2 owners about. This is seemingly because a standard Switch 2 cartridge wouldn’t be able to contain the large amount of data needed for the game.

Ubisoft have confirmed that Shadows will cost $59.99 USD / £49.99 GBP for both physical and digital versions.

Cross-progression

Shadows on Switch 2 will be connected to your Ubisoft account, meaning you can progress your save across multiple devices. Started your journey at home on PC? Well, take it out and about with you on your Switch 2.
