Fighting games continue to be coming up everywhere. It was announced at NYCC that a fighting game based on the Avatar franchise is in development. Although only pre-alpha footage has been shown so far, the gameplay already looks pretty crisp and fluid. There’s said to be 12 characters at launch, with Aang, Korra, Zuko, Katara, Azula ,Toph and Sokka being confirmed. There’s also plans to add many more via DLC. Avatar certainly has no shortage of characters from both series to add, not to mention a third series, Seven Havens, on the way as well. It’ll be interesting to see who makes it in from launch. Perhaps they even add the new Avatar to introduce people to the character early.

Gameplay is said to have a heavy focus on movement and will feature and original single player story as well. While Avatar unfortunately hasn’t had a great history with video games, they’re in great hands for a fighting game. Them’s Fightin Herds is often considered one of the most underrated fighters of this era and Diesel Legacy offered a unique take on the genre by incorporating beat ’em up elements. So perhaps the series may finally get a game that rivals the excellence of its shows.

A lifelong gamer who enjoys playing on every platform. Eventually, I grew to love fighting games in particular and began to compete and even win competitions for some games, primarily the 2013 revival of killer instinct. Outside of gaming I also have aspirations of being a comic book artist with a few ideas of my own im developing in my head. When reviewing any game I try to keep my mind open and avoid nitpicking too much. It takes a lot for something to detract me from truly enjoying it so I may not focus on smaller details the way some others might do. I enjoy almost any genre, just don't ask me to play horror games or puzzle games.
