If you are anything like me, Rock Band may have been part of some very important year of your life. It has brought lots of joy, at home karaoke, and made groups of friends enjoy time as rock stars in the comfort of their own living rooms. Unfortunately, the end of an era is upon us. Rock Band 4 is now about to be delisted from online platforms. The news comes in time for Rock Band’s 10th anniversary, which is also when many of the licenses will begin to expire. In the official Rock Band Discord server, Community Manager Kyle Wynn had the following to say
On Sunday, October 5, 2025, Rock Band 4 turns 10. What a ride it’s been. With this milestone comes one big change: the original licenses for the core soundtrack are expiring. Because of that, Rock Band 4 will be removed from the PlayStation and Xbox digital stores…
…We’re so grateful for the passion this community has shown. From the team, it’s been a special experience to serve you with Rivals challenges, a super deep DLC library and a best in class band sim.

The good news of course is that for those who already own the game and the DLC, nothing changes. You keep access to these even when they hit the 10 year mark. However, the 10 year mark also means their delisting from services. Kyle did also share that if “you’ve been meaning to grab a last few songs, now’s the time.” The last DLC will be delist in January of 2034, 10 years after release.
This all should come as no surprise to those who have followed Harmonix and musical games. In recent years, Harmonix has shifted its focus to Fortnite Festival as opposed to ongoing support for Rock Band. Of course, this isn’t quite the same as it was when you could purchase the big Rock Band bundle and return home with a guitar, a microphone, and a drum set of sorts. Some guitars are compatible with Fortnite Festival is the drums weren’t quite your speed anyway. Fortnite Festival has presented fantastic line ups since it’s inception so perhaps change isn’t always so bad.
For many of us, we’ll miss the joy of banging on drums or “shredding on a guitar” the way we did with Rock Band and it’s sequels, but all good things must come to an end. In memoriam, feel free to share your favorite Rock Band memories with us down below. Or alternatively, let us know which songs you’ll be buying before the weekend is over.
