Whether you’re a Final Fantasy fan or a Magic: The Gathering fan, there is big news! More Final Fantasy x Magic: The Gathering cards have been announced and are scheduled to release on December 5th.
The announcement comes via the official Final Fantasy website, and Square Enix has picked some Final Fantasy IX cards to highlight in anticipation of their release.
Here are some of the Final Fantasy IX x Magic: The Gathering cards arriving later this year:

“Choco, Seeker of Paradise makes a return in the Chocobo Bundle with a brand-new illustration. Furthermore, the cards within this bundle include the Chocobo Track Foil edition card, a unique foil pattern that looks like chocobo footprints.”

The other six cards are The Siege of Alexandria: “Brilliant Wings,” “Judgment of Alexander,” “Mega Flare,” “Amarant Coral,” “Vivi’s Persistence,” and “Search for Dagger”, which can be arranged to make a larger scene.
“The combined illustration depicts when Dagger, whose true name is Garnet, calls upon the power of the great eidolon Alexander to defend her home, the Kingdom of Alexandria, from Bahamut’s onslaught.”
Fans of FFIX will remember this moment in the game, and according to Magic: The Gathering’s Principal Narrative Game Designer, Dillon Deveney, so did a lot of the team. “We talked A LOT about what scene in FINAL FANTASY IX to pick from, because we knew we had to do a FFIX scene with so many fans of the series working on this project. I eventually asked, “What’s the cutscene you remember most?” And by a wide margin, most people recollected when Alexander and Bahamut battled throughout Alexandria. I was like, “Great! Let’s do that!“
Alongside the reveal of the Final Fantasy IX 25th anniversary exhibition commemorative goods that happened today, the much-loved JRPG continues to be given a great deal of Square Enix’s attention. We’ll keep an eye out for more card reveals in the lead-up to December 5th, so be sure to check back for more Final Fantasy x Magic: The Gathering news!
