Sega Announces Tokyo Game Show Line-Up As Panzer Dragoon: Zwei Remake Re-Emerges

Sega has been one of the strongest Japanese publishers in recent years, with positive release runs from its beloved franchises, including Sonic, Like a Dragon, and Persona, and new IPs such as Metaphor: ReFantazio. As the publisher continues its streak of releases following its resurgence during the PS4/Xbox One generation, many of its fans are anticipating its showing at Tokyo Game Show 2025.

Today, Sega has announced its plans for the event. The publisher has revealed that not only will they be bringing previously announced titles such as Persona 3 Reload for Nintendo Switch, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Virtua Fighter 5: REVO – World Stage, and mobile title Persona 5: The Phantom X, but they will also be presenting four mystery games at the show this year. As one can imagine, there’s already plenty of speculation as to what these titles could be.

Accompanying this, Sega partner publisher Forever Entertainment has announced that Panzer Dragoon Zwei: Remake, the remake of the beloved Sega Saturn rail shooter and follow-up to the publisher’s 2020 remake of the original Panzer Dragoon, will also be playable at Tokyo Game Show. Despite the double announcement, this title is unlikely to be one of Sega’s mystery games, as the Panzer Dragoon and House of the Dead remakes are generally published by Forever Entertainment.

What Could Sega Be Teasing for Tokyo Game Show?

Fans have begun speculating that Sega could present recently revealed upcoming Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi titles; however, there is also an announcement from Yakuza/Like a Dragon developer RGG Studios set to be held during Tokyo Game Show. Many have speculated that the studio is preparing to announce a remake of Yakuza 3, while also revealing new information on the upcoming Virtua Fighter 6 and Stranger Than Heaven.

There’s also the possibility of Persona 4 Revival making an appearance here or at potential upcoming Nintendo Direct or State of Play presentations, which are generally held in the lead-up to Tokyo Game Show. Either way, it’s evident that Sega is a very busy publisher, and this speculation doesn’t even extend to titles currently in development at the publisher’s western branches, including the Two Point series and Alien: Isolation 2.

Tokyo Game Show will take place from September 25th to September 28th.
