Yooka-Replaylee Release Date Announced

Playtonic Games, a team composed in large part by ex-Rare developers, many of whom worked on the studio’s classic Nintendo 64 platformers, have announced the release date for Yooka-Replayee. Yooka-Replaylee is a remake of the 2017 last-generation title that seeks to fix many of the original’s criticisms through new quality of life features and design changes.

Yooka-Replaylee was originally announced last year with an undetermined release date on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and “Nintendo platform”, the latter of which resulted in some wide speculation that the game would release on Nintendo’s then unannounced Switch 2 system. Recently at Gamescom the Nintendo Switch 2 was announced alongside the reveal that the physical version of the game will launch on a full cartridge, with a release date announcement soon to follow.

Today, it has been revealed that Yooka-Replaylee will launch physically and digitally on October 9. The digital version of the game will launch for $29.99 in the U.S., while the physical version will be $49.99 but will include some extra physical goodies. Better yet, owners of the original Yooka-Laylee will recieve a 30% discount towards Yooka-Replaylee on the same platform. At the moment this offer seems to only be exclusive to digital owners of the first game though.

Playtonic has also detailed some extra enhancements coming to Yooka-Replaylee, such as an entirely reworked story, a stunning new graphical upgrade, and the implementation of a new map and collectables tracker, making those collect-a-thon sessions far less stressful for completionists looking to grab every Pagie they can get their hands on.

Yooka-Replaylee releases for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 9 2025.
