The official date of Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary, July 7th, has been and gone, marked with the release of a special commemorative film and a collaboration with Japanese eyewear brand Zokk. While there have only been a couple of reveals since the iconic JRPG’s 25th anniversary date, Square Enix still has a couple of surprises up its sleeve. Today, the Japanese publisher announced a Final Fantasy IX 25th anniversary exhibition that will be held towards the end of 2025.
According to the announcement article published on the official FFIX 25th anniversary website:
“‘FINAL FANTASY IX’ is a magnificent adventure set in a fantasy world like a picture book. An exhibition will be held in Tokyo to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its birth since its release on July 7, 2000.”

The Final Fantasy IX 25th anniversary exhibition will be held for 16 days from November 22nd (Sat) to December 7th (Sun), 2025, at Yurakucho Marui, Tokyo. Fans can look forward to seeing previously unseen development materials, with the post teasing the exhibition of “the weapon that many players have longed for.”
More information, including details of the exhibition, ticket information, commemorative goods, etc., will be added to the newly launched official FFIX 25th anniversary exhibition website in the future. Final Fantasy fans can also follow the newly set up FFIX 25th anniversary exhibition Twitter/X account to keep up to date with information around the exhibition.
“In addition, the ‘FINAL FANTASY IX’ 25th-anniversary special page is looking for fan art and memorable comments on the theme of ‘FFIX’. Some of the fan art and comments you submitted will be introduced in this exhibition, so please join us.” Click the link for more details.
While it seemed as though Square Enix was slowing down the festivities around the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX, the publisher seems committed to highlighting this much-loved JRPG, having already dedicated the majority of 2025 to it. Will this announcement of a dedicated exhibition have anything to do with the long-rumoured FFIX remake? Unlikely, but it certainly won’t help to lower some of the fanbase’s expectations. Whatever they have planned for Final Fantasy IX, you can be sure the GSC team will be ready to report on it!
