It’s kinda hard to believe that its been almost a year since we got Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 isn’t it? Well for as quick as time moves these days, its important for games like Space Marine 2 to provide constant updates. Today, Saber Interactive is doing just that, giving us a glimpse at what to expect for its year 2 roadmap starting with the anniversary update coming on September 4th.
We’ve been big fans of Space Marine 2 here since its launch giving the game an 8 in our review and nominating it for our shooter of the year. It has since been featured in many of our community game nights as we continue to enjoy going back to one of the best shooters of this generation.
Much like year 1, year 2 will feature 6 new updates with a variety of different bits of content. Expect new maps and modes for both PvE and PvP experiences as well as new enemy types as well as a new class. Of course all this will be provided via free updates as well, meaning all players can enjoy the content right out the gate.
Year 2 Highlights
- Four new Operations and a new Siege map
- Two new Eternal War arenas
- New Stratagems (PvE) and Helbrute Onslaught (PvP) game modes
- New playable class: The Techmarine
- New weapons and free unlockable weapon variants for existing weapons
- New enemies and bosses
- New Progression mechanics
Patch 10 will be the first of these updates and launch on September 4th on the games first anniversary. On the 4th players will get:
- New PvE Mission
- New PvP Mode – Hellbrute Onslaught
- New PvP Arena
- New PvE Mode – Stratagems
- 3 New Weapons
- Majoris Enemy – Chaos Spawn
- Chaos Armour Pack
The anniversary update, which will be the games single biggest update ever, will also bring about a new Season Pass as well as 2 DLC packs. The DLC includes the Black Templars Champion Pack and Imperial Fists Cosmetic Pack. These packs will include a Champion skin for the Bulwark class and Power Sword skin for the former, and over 40 new cosmetics celebrating seven of the Imperial Fists' Successor Chapters for the latter.
Throughout season 2 players will be able to unlock 9 new DLCs which will celebrate many of the Space Marine Chapters. The Raptors, Iron Hands and Carcharodons will all get some time with the spotlight while the Blood Angels and Salamanders will also receive some new cosmetics.
While we know Space Marine 3 is already in the works, it is nice to see Saber still heavily supporting this game at the same time. The fight for the Emperor never stops after all! You can see the trailer for the new updates below.
