Gears of War: Reloaded day one patch

If you've managed to pickup a physical copy of Gears of War: Reloaded for PlayStation 5 ahead of launch - there's no Xbox physical, the times we live in... – then you will need to ensure a Day One update to play the game online. I have seen a few people on X / Twitter over the weekend with issues unlocking trophies, hopefully they'll pop once this patch is pushed.

The day one patch includes fixing small bugs and crashes, alongside frame rate issues for DualSense controller users on PC. Some quality of life improvements are in the patch too including better support for handheld devices - notably the Steam Deck and ROG Xbox Ally devices, of which Gears of War: Reloaded is already verified for.

Official Patch Notes:

  • Multiple crash fixes and"¯incremental"¯performance enhancements across PC and console platforms
  • Resolved"¯numerous"¯gameplay, UI, and localization bugs - from controller input quirks to incorrect in-game text - for a smoother experience.
  • Minor feature tweaks like improved handheld device support switching"¯(mouse & keyboard mode) and refined settings behavior enhance overall usability.
  • Consoles:"¯The game now properly handles cases where"¯in-game"¯global power saving"¯ is disabled but certain modes (campaign/versus) tried to use power-save features.
  • Consoles: Fix for"¯fire texture and animation"¯isn’t"¯shown properly"¯in Campaign.
  • PC: Fixed a"¯persistent low-frame-rate issue"¯when connecting a"¯DualSense®"¯controller to a PC.
  • Handheld:"¯Fixed mouse input issues on certain handheld PCs – the mouse sensitivity on handheld devices has been corrected to respond consistently.

Players must download the update to play. Further patches will be posted regularly on the Gears of War official X / Twitter account.

Gears of War: Reloaded Seriously achievement / trophy

*If you're wondering what "˜Seriously' means in a Gears context, throughout the Gears of War franchise the hardest and most grindy achievement has always been Seriously. The original Gears of War's Seriously achievement required 10,000 kills in multiplayer and returns with Gears of War: Reloaded.

10,000 kills may sound like months of work, but that is the tip of the Seriously iceberg, as the achievement has grew exponentially over time. In the latest mainline entry Gears 5, Seriously even had a Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 achievement for the following:

Seriously 5.0 Chapter 1

Insane Campaign, Master Horde & Escape Launch Maps & Characters, 20 Re-ups, General in Tour

Seriously 5.0 Chapter 2

50 Re-Ups, Inconceivable Campaign, Master All hives & Horde Maps , All Classes at Level 20

These achievements are no joke and are known to take hundreds of hours, that's if you're good.

This is the first Gears of War game in a very long time, and the first since Gears Tactics which launched in April 2020 to mostly positive reviews. It's very exciting times being able to get back into Gridlock, Escalation and a truly wonderful two player cooperative campaign once again.
