Well, this was a nice Saturday surprise in gaming news. Often a day of little to no news – even during gamescom week – but Ubisoft have shared some welcome news. The excellent Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be receiving new content later this year, that will all be free.
In a short post on X (Twitter), the Assassin’s Creed official account announced the following will become available before the end of the year:
- A new story chapter
- Missions set in 9th century AlUla, an ancient oasis which is located in present day Medina Province of Saudi Arabia
- Gameplay improvements for the base game, as well as the to-be added locations
Little more is known for now, but it’s exciting to know Basim’s adventure will continue.
If you’re yet to play Assassin’s Creed Mirage, it’s a throwback to the routes of the series routes. The smaller adventure set in 9th century Baghdad was originally intended to be DLC for Valhalla but came out as a full 25 hour release – a time respecting length for a modern AC title. Mirage joined Xbox Game Pass earlier this month for players to complete ahead of the new free surprise content. The game is available for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series, as well as PC.
What makes this such a surprise is Ubisoft is actively working on post-launch content for the latest Assassin’s Creed, Shadows which we reviewed highly here at GSC. The Claws of Awaji DLC is scheduled for September as part of a Year 1 content roadmap – which also includes free DLC.
Are you excited to get back in the shoes of Basim? What’s your favourite modern AC game? Let us know in the comments below and stick with GSC for more updates on the Assassin’s Creed Mirage DLC.
