If you’re like me, you’ve been looking for something to fill that void left by Star Fox 64 from many moons ago. Rail shooters (even those with fighter ships) come and go and I have seen many over my years on this planet. But something caught my eye during this week’s Future Games Show at Gamescom 2025. A new adventure arcade-shooter called Wild Blue.
In this unveiling trailer, we’re greeted with an anime-style shot of several…well…animal pilots in a hangar. Alarms start to blare – it must be time to take to the skies!

As the pilots scramble to their ships, we’re also given some names. Bowie – a wolf/dog (kind of hard to tell). Roe – a deer. Thorne – a lizard (maybe even a bearded dragon). And Chuck – a steer. Honestly, very clever choices with the names! Thrusters get engaged and the ships launch!
What we then get treated to are some amazing captures of what will (hopefully) be the in-game styling and feel of the game. As I mentioned Star Fox 64, but this truly does feel like a modernized and highly stylized rebuild of the game. Is it a little close to that source material? Maybe. However, am I intrigued by what I was presented with? You bet your bottom dollar I was!

More on Wild Blue and Development
Wild Blue is coming to us from Chuhai Labs, a upcoming Kyoto-based game studio. Chuhai Labs (initially named Vitei), founded in 2020 by Nintendo alumnus Giles Goddard, has had two other titles to their name since founding: Paper Valley and Cursed to Golf. Goddard, interestingly enough, provided prior work on the Star Fox 64 game itself!
Currently, there’s no pending release date or even projected time frame for Wild Blue. We do know, however, that it will be initially coming to PC on Steam and can be wish listed there now!
