Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree Gameplay Reveal

Roguelites. While not the most avid player of these games, I know that they are simply everywhere nowadays. And I get it! The core concepts of the game style make them something that you can run again, and again, and again! At this week’s Future Games Show at Gamescom 2025, we were provided a glimpse at a new title in this genre: Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree.

The trailer to Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree provides us with a great insight into what this game is going to be all about. There’s gonna be lots of enemies. There will be a beautiful art-style (something that almost reminds me of Avatar: The Last Airbender). And there will be choices. So. Many. Choices.

Beauty and chaos – all in one shot!

In Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree, you’ll have the option to choose from a handful of separate heroes, each presumably with their own unique fighting styles and perks. Much like other roguelites, you’ll be presented with “Graces” that will ultimately provide the buffs and perks you need to progress the combat further and survive.

What does make this game a little more unique is the addition of a homebase location: Shinju Village. Now, I know that you’re gonna say “But Hades had a home location for Zagreus!”. I know – just let me cook for a minute! In Shinju Village, it appears that you’ll also have some leeway with crafting – what the purpose of all this crafting will be remains to be seen.
