If you have ever read any of my pieces on Gamer Social Club, you’ll know that I am an absolute sucker for cute games. Unpacking, Little Kitty Big City, and Spiral (shoutout to Folklore Games) are just the tip of that fuzzy-feeling iceberg. The Future Games Show at Gamescom 2025 has, again, proven that all walks of gaming belong in these showcases. That being said, imagine my glee when a new gameplay trailer graced my screen: Deer & Boy.
In this brief gameplay trailer of Deer & Boy, we are presented with absolutely stunning artwork of the journey of a boy in his beanie and a magical (?) deer. Based on the content of this initial gameplay teaser, it looks like we’ll have to be working with our deer friend (heh, get it) to work our way through the world and solve various puzzles along the way.

The gorgeous of this game, coupled with some beautiful, if not somber music, are selling me on this game. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for this game’s release.

What Else Do We Know About Deer & Boy?
This will be the first title of Lifeline Games, which appears to be a solo studio founded by Jayson Houdet. The game will be published with the assistance of Dear Villagers, who have an extensive backing of previously published games.
Based on details from the game’s Steam page, player’s can also expect the deer’s abilities evolve as the game progresses. One of the additional features of this game will be the fact that there will be no dialogue. As a fan of Limbo and Little Nightmares, this is another positive point in Deer & Boy‘s favor.

Deer & Boy is, per the announcement trailer, launching to PC (Steam and Epic Games), PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox.
