It’s been announced that Sega Villains Dlc for Shinobi: Art of Vengeance will include the series antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, Dr. Eggman along with 2 more unnamed villains.
Something like this is very much in line with Shinobi as the original games from the Genesis were known to have bosses that resembled popular characters such as Batman and Godzilla.
Not much is known about what will be in this DLC, but it is scheduled for early 2026. With the game launching later this month, it will be awhile before these villians become available.

While Dr. Eggman is definitely great as he’s one of the best villains in gaming overall, it’ll be interesting to see who the other two villains will be. Perhaps another Sonic character like Infinite or a character from some of Sega’s other popular franchises like Ryuji Goda from Yakuza or Louis Guiabern from Metaphor: Refantazio. Or perhaps they even go way back and bring back someone like Warhead from Vectorman.
Whatever the characters will be, perhaps we’ll see more at Gamescom and it’s nice to see them keeping up one of the traditions that made Shinobi so popular back in the 90s. If the game is anywhere near as good as another recent retro Ninja revival, gamers are sure to be in for a fun time when Shinobi: Art of Vengeance drops.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is set to release on August 29th, 2025 for PC, Nintendo switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox one and Xbox Series platforms.
