Draknek & Friends have announced the release date for their upcoming puzzle game Spooky Express, finally nailing down which day in October fans will get to put their BRAAAAINS to the test!
Announced earlier this year, Spooky Express is now set to release on October 21st, 2025, for PC(Steam) and Mobile(iOS and Android). Check out the new launch trailer below.
But that’s not all! A new demo for Spooky Express is now available to try on PC(Steam), so fans can get a taste of what October will bring!
If you are not familiar with Spooky Express, it is a puzzle game where you lay down train tracks for the titular train, in the hopes of meeting your ghoulish commuters’ demands. Be careful, though, some passengers should not be seated near others, so be sure to plot a route to avoid any unwanted… biting.
Featuring over 150 thoughtfully designed puzzles across several scary locations, which increase in complexity at a steady pace, puzzle game fans are sure to get a thrill out of Spooky Express later this year!

And if you are not familiar with Draknek & Friends, they are an award-winning developer and publisher who specialise in puzzle games. They are fans of taking any ludicrous idea, whether it’s a theme or a mechanic, and seeing it through to the end. Other games from Draknek & Friends include A Monster’s Expedition, A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build, and The Electrifying Incident, the last of which we reviewed when it launched earlier this year.
Draknek & Friends recently also announced that the Draknek New Voices Puzzle Grant will be returning this year, giving 5 game developers from traditionally underrepresented groups and backgrounds support to develop “thinky puzzle games”. Each recipient will receive $15,000 and a year of one-on-one mentorship with some of the industry’s leading designers, developers, and publishers.

Successfully funded projects from 2024 include:
- Map Map – A Game About Maps by Pipapo Games (Germany)
- Compress(space) by Fahim Daysal (Bangladesh)
- Kiko's Apple Adventure by PawPaw Games (Finland/China)
- Shape Sender Deluxe by Dead Teapot (New Zealand)
- The Detective's Apprentice by Stuti Verma (India)
- Backtrace by Petallix Games (USA)
