SWEET LIBERTY! We know it’s been coming for some time now. Now, the day is almost upon us. That’s right, the official launch of Helldivers 2 to Xbox Series X|S.
The official Xbox YouTube channel graces us with what we love about Helldivers 2 in the trailer. Chaos, big guns, and even bigger explosions. Starting August 26th, Xbox gamers will be able to join in on the magic of bringing “managed democracy” to the freedom-hating Terminids, Automatons, and Illuminate.
And for those of you that caught it, Xbox fans are in for an even bigger treat. In the last few seconds, a picture of a war-torn city presents itself to us. And the soundtrack playing over that scene? Original music from Xbox’s 2009 release, Halo: ODST. Does this mean that we are seeing are cross-over between Playstation and Xbox properties? We’ll have to wait and see as we get more news as we near the launch date later this month.

Helldivers 2, launched in 2024 by Arrowhead Game Studios, is the direct sequel to the 2015 Helldivers. Arrowhead set the game in the 22nd century on “Super Earth”. Super Earth has enlisted the citizens of the planet as shock troops, known as Helldivers. These brave soldiers are dispatched to various planets around Super Earth to quell threats to humanity. Dripping with silliness that is only rivaled by the film Starship Troopers, Helldivers 2 saw a record 1 million units in sales by February 11th, 2024. Only three days after its launch to PlayStation 5 and PC gamers.
Helldivers 2 is available for pre-order now, as both the Standard Edition and the Super Citizen Edition. This expanded version includes several cosmetics only available through pre-order, as well as the MP-98 Knight. This submachine gun, only available via the Super Citizen Edition, features an extremely high rate of fire and will be vital to any Helldiver’s armory.
