It is not an easy feat for an indie game company to get half a million players on their game. This is even more true for dating sims which can be seen as niche games. Yet, the team at Sassy Chap Games and Team 17 are celebrating that they have sold over 500,000 units across Steam, Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. Half a million players have donned the dateviators and had the opportunity to be friends with Dorian, rap with Jean-Loo, and even date the devs! To celebrate, the team has put together a special trailer. Perhaps you'll spot the quote from our review of Date Everything!
The dev team has been loving the response to the game so far. Robbie Daymond, voice actor and Sassy Chap Games cofounder has shared, "Watching the joy and FUN this game has brought players is one of the greatest honors we could have hoped for. I couldn’t be more excited to see the community grow and even more people experience Date Everything!”
He isn't the only dev to share how great this has been. Amanda Hufford, staff writer and voice actor stated, "Grateful. Honored. Absolutely in awe. What a heartening experience to have all our hard work met with such overwhelming love and support from the community. Thank yall so much!" Ray Chase, a man of few words just said "Nice." A lot less talkative than his Scandalabra role!
With a response such as this, the trailer isn't all the team has planned. It wouldn't be enough to just share this wonderful trailer highlighting some of the voice acting. In a move that perhaps only the Date Everything team could do, they are giving away a washing machine and a pair of dateviators. That's right, you can have your very own Washford and Skylar home with you. While you can't quite date them or realize them, they can be nice additions to your home.
