If you’re a football nut but FC (FIFA), Rematch or eFootball aren’t cutting it for you, then Sumo Digital have something a little different on the horizon.
The studio have announced a new deckbuilding football (or soccer, if you’re one of those) game that takes place in the glorious 80s and 90s era of English football.
NUTMEG! Official announce trailer
NUTMEG! Is a retro football manager that takes us on a 20-year journey managing a lower league club, over their journey from minnows to giants. Players can stick with one team, or become a journeyman manager with new clubs unlocked each season.
Whilst the matches are played as deck builder battles, this is a full management sim where players will manage finances, control transfers and even talk to the press.

NUTMEG! will take place in the era of football where things were a little harder, tougher tackles, players ditching shinpads and before players ruled the dressing room. This line on the Steam page made me hit wishlist instantly: “Relive the days when the tackles were as hard as the mullets were long”. The trailer even features something that every 30+ male in the UK will recognise, live scores on the old-fashioned teletext. Glorious.

NUTMEG! launches next year on Steam and can be wishlisted now. Limbs.
