Developer Monomi Park have confirmed that Slime Rancher 2 will finally be getting its full release in September, following three years and a day in early access.
Slime Rancher 2 has been available in pre-release form on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam / Epic Games Store) for some time and will graduate to its v1.0 release on 23 September 2025.

With version 1.0, players can expect "much-anticipated updates, like the return of fan-favourite Drones (now with a Quantum twist!), a buffet of gadgets and upgrades, new places to explore, and more. So tighten your boots, and prepare to take the plunge into the enigmatic heart of the Grey Labyrinth and race against time to save Rainbow Island!"
Slime Rancher 2 physical release
Alongside the confirmation of v1.0 release, Monomi Park also confirmed that a Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 physical edition will release on January 14 2026. A retail edition will be available globally, but the developer are partnering with iam8bit for the Exclusive Edition, which will include:
- Physical release of the game
- Sticker sheet pack-in with various slimes
- Exclusive O-Sleeve
Both the global retail and iam8bit Exclusive Edition will include a download code for the official game soundtrack; as well as a poster featuring original artwork from Yusuke Naora, known for their work on Final Fantasy VII, X and XV.

Early access is an ever-popular way for games to release in the modern era. Grounded 2, which has similarities to the Slime Rancher games launched in to early access yesterday. Developer Obsidian have already released the early access roadmap.
