For those that have hated the recent additions of Call Of Duty being added to the “Call Of Duty HQ” we have some exciting news. As of today Modern Warfare 2 & 3 are now standalone titles and are no longer tied to the HQ.
The announcement was made by Activision on X and has been met with praise. This decision means 2 things, and both are great for different reasons. For starters, this means you will no longer be required to have the entirety of the H1 downloaded which takes up a massive amount of space.
Secondly, for those who love their achievements, it means an entirely new, and separate achievement list. The lists themselves are the exact same as what they previously were in the “dlc” section of the Call Of Duty hub except for one slight change.
This only affects Xbox users as the PlayStation versions already had separate lists.

Modern Warfare 3 has 1 additional achievement for reaching level 55. This achievement “The First Step” is worth 55 Gamescore and means the standalone now has 39 achievements. It was previously a separate title update on the hub. Because of the added achievement some of the other values have changed to keep it at 1,000 Gamerscore.

For the players that have already played the game and want some extra gamerscore we have more good news. Any achievements you have already earned while playing the 2 titles under the hub will automatically unlock all the same achievements on the standalone version. Simply reinstall the game and boot it up for your free gamerscore and potentially new completion.
Some in the community won’t like this too much as they see it as free gamerscore with no effort, while others will applaud it for the change.
What this means for future Call Of Duty releases remains to be seen however we are hopeful this means each game will be a standalone title going forward. With Black Ops 7 soon to be fully revealed we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
