We here at Gamer Social Club have made a concerted effort to not report on things such as unconfirmed leaks and insider information. We know a subset of gamers dislike that side of gaming journalism for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they simply aren’t true, or they just don’t trust who is doing the leaking/reporting. I get that. This article however is going to cover an insider report, not to report on it ourselves, but to help demonstrate why insider reports are such a slippery slope.
Last night, insider DetevtiveSeeds posted on social media about some information on GTA VI. In case you haven’t heard of it (I kid), GTA VI is kind of a big deal, and everyone is chomping at the bit to get more information on Rockstar’s next game. DetectiveSeeds’ report stated that as of right this second, the PS5 Pro version of GTA VI is the only version of the game that is running it at 60FPS. The game isn’t launching day 1 on PC, and the Pro is the most powerful console on the market at the moment, so that makes sense right?
GTA6 has been, and continues to hit 60fps while being optimized for the PS5 Pro on multiple graphical settings. PS engineers are assisting with the optimization due to the new tech being implemented and rolled out with a current target date of May 2026. They are also assisting… https://t.co/IKDPfFZc5S

The problem with not just this insider report, but insider reports in general, is these things get reported with only parts of a story. You’ve probably seen by now a few headlines of “GTA VI only 60FPS on PS5 Pro” whether on social media or some media running with the story.
But Danno, you just said the report states exactly that! Well, it does, but there’s actually more to the report that gives more context that is needed, and sadly not being reported. For starters, the report says this is as of right now, nearly a year out from the games release, and that the game could be optimized for other pieces of hardware to get up to 60FPS for launch.
Will the game run at 60FPS on a base PlayStation 5? If it was released today, then the answer is no. That may or may not change by the time May comes along. The report does state that PlayStation engineers are assisting Rockstar to get the game up and running optimally, so chances are that will include the base PlayStation 5 at some point. That is pretty standard these days for both PlayStation and Xbox.
Where’s The Info Coming From?
The second part of this, and perhaps the most important for context, is how DetectiveSeeds got this information. His source on this topic is a PlayStation engineer. Whether you believe him or his sourcing is up to you, as is usually the case with insider information. The reason I bring this up is that many are running with a narrative that Xbox Series consoles will not run the game at 60FPS.
Again, that may or may not be true (it’s almost certainly true for the Series S), but considering the information is allegedly coming from a PlayStation engineer, they likely have no information on how the game is running on Xbox. This engineer is focused on how the game is running on a PlayStation.

Like I mentioned earlier, there is very likely some Xbox engineers working with Rockstar to get GTA VI running as best as it possibly can on Xbox consoles. It’s the biggest game of the generation after all so both platforms will want to do everything in their power to make that happen. Will they be able to get it to 60FPS on Xbox? Only time will tell.
All this leads me to my point as to why this type of information is such a slippery slope. The report has been rewritten so many times that it’s now become misleading without all of the proper context. Social media is turning it into a console war debate with people saying the Xbox version is lagging behind. Others want to use it to show why the PS5 Pro is worth its massive price tag. These things may end up being reality, but its far too early to decide that.
And I just want to be clear here, this isn’t the fault of DetectiveSeeds. A he’s only putting out the information he’s given and I’ve spoken to him many times, so I have nothing bad to say about him. Whether you believe it or not is up to you, and he is not the one writing all these other social media posts and headlines not giving the full context. That’s on those outlets and accounts only reporting on what will bring clicks.
For those of you who don’t like this type of reporting, this is exactly why we avoid it as well. We will continue to stick to the facts and official reports and leave this stuff to others. And if you are upset that we are talking about this here, I apologize for that, it just seemed like a perfect way to give an example of why GSC will continue to avoid this while also providing some proper context to the story thats already making the rounds.
