FBI Seizes Switch ROM Site Nsw2u

Nintendo, one of the most IP protective companies in gaming are renowned for shutting down mods, rip-offs and perceived clones of their video games.

Currently "˜Ninty' have ongoing legal battles with the developers of Palworld, Pocketpair in relation to the developer including certain actions in the game such as capturing "˜Pals' in balls or riding on them.

Ever seeking to keep a watertight handle on games and their code, Nintendo have shut down alternative means to play many of their games over the years. Earlier this year ahead of the Switch 2 launch, Nintendo updated their Account Agreement with a warning against "unauthorised use" (piracy-related actions / attempts) as it sought to deter any illegal action on Switch consoles.

Now, popular Nintendo Switch piracy website nsw2u.com has been seized by the FBI and Dutch FIOD, who investigate financial crimes in the Netherlands.

Logging on to the website today, you'll see nothing more than this seizure message from the Federal Bureau of Investigation:

You didn't find this out just "˜by visiting' the site now, did you?

Nsw2u was an online space where people could download ROMS of Switch games to be used on PC or other platform emulators. Those seeking to emulate Switch games will now need to find alternative means.

This isn't the first Switch emulator that has been shutdown. Last year Yuzu was closed with the its developer Tropical Haze ordered to pay Nintendo $2.4m in damages (credit: Eurogamer).
