Another Xbox exclusive is taking the leap over to another platform, this time with GSC Game World’s Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl headed to the PlayStation 5 in late 2025.
The announcement comes today from GSC Game World themselves as they dropped a trailer to show the move to PlayStation. Stalker 2 will get PS5 Pro enhancements as well as DualSense support including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for deeper player immersion.
While we dont have any official date beyond “late 2025” its probably a safe bet to say the game will come out in November. Stalker 2 launched on Xbox and PC on November 20th 2024 and these timed exclusive deals are usually about a year long. Stalker 2 originally had a 3 month exclusvity deal way back in 2021, however the war in Ukraine significantly delayed the development of the game and likely extended the exclusivity deal in the process.
While Stalker 2 released to relatively high praise last year, it was literred with bugs. So much so that the studio has delivered multiple patches features hundreds of bug fixes at once. Infact its 1.1 patch that was released about a month after its launch had a staggering 1800 bug fixes.
Our reivew, which was written by yours truly, gave the game a 7.5 saying “Stalker 2 is proof of a game being too ambitious for it's own good. If it had a much more condensed map or better travel system it would have made for a much more enjoyable experience and would have likely helped with polish.”
In that sense PlayStation players may be getting a significantly better game. If the PlayStation version is fully poilished and they dont run into bugs on that system, the game should be one of the better shooters on the platform.
Despite the bugs, the game has seen quite a bit of success. While it launched on Xbox Game Pass it saw sales of 1 million units in its first 2 days and in March GSC Game World revealed that it had been played by 6 million players. With todays announcement, that will surely grow once it hits the PlayStation 5 console.
