Side scrolling beat em ups seem to be having a bit of a resurgence these last few years and it’s something we’ve been happy to see. The days of couch co-op may seem long gone, but there’s hope yet. You may have seen our coverage of Ra Ra BOOM in our July demo disc, but our first notice of this game was back in June 2024 at Future of Play and Women-Led Games showcase. Finally today we learned of the full release date for this beat em up. Gylee Games debut title, Ra Ra BOOM, releases Aug 12, 2025.

Ra Ra BOOM is not just a side scrolling game. It also has a coming of age narrative that allows players to save humanity from AI robots. While we hope this isn’t prophetic, the game itself is quite fun. One of the best parts of this game is the fact that all the lanes are very easily defined. While still defined, the lanes always fit very well into the layout of the setting. The characters will find the way into the lanes making it easier to ensure you are attacking the right opponents.

Ra Ra BOOM will also come with a fully voiced story and an original soundtrack to keep you in the mood to beat things up! As you play through the nine stages, you’ll also have the opportunity to upgrade your favorite girl. Whether you play as Vee, the machine gun wielding tank or Ren, the goofball who sends shurikens flying, each character has their own fighting style.
