Focus Entertainment have confirmed that there's a lot more Space Marine 2 on the way. The highly successful successor to the Xbox 360 / PS3 era Warhammer 40k Space Marine only launched in late-2024 and already there is a third game in development.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Space Marine 2 in our review, with our reviewer calling it "an incredible game and I would recommend it to anyone interested in a good old fashion 3rd person shooter".
Patch 8.0 just released which introduced Siege Mode and many tweaks and updates to the game.
Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 Year 2
Focus Entertainment have offered a wealth of post-launch content and updates since release, however there are no plans to slow down. The developers have confirmed there will be Year 2 content for the game:
In a blog post, they announced that free and paid DLC will be coming in the new year: "We're happy to announce that a second year of both free and DLC content included in a new yearly season pass is on the way! This extended support to Space Marine 2 has been possible thanks to your unwavering support, so once again, thank you very much for being part of it!."
The developers will release Patch 9.0 which will not include any new content. However when Patch 10.0 comes for the anniversary of the release, the developers say it will be a "large-scale update". Unfortunately the PvP planned for Patch 9.0 will now launch with Patch 10.0.
Patch 10.0's new PvP mode will feature:
- This new mode will take place on a new map.
- It will oppose 2 sides, but it won't be Loyalist VS Chaos like in regular PvP. Instead, Chaos will face... Chaos.
- Last but not least, you'll be able to take control of the Helbrute. Yup.
A new weapon, the Power Axe will also be added with Patch 10.0, which will have its own moveset, execution animations and more.
The developers are also working on a new class, Techmarine. The developers will share more on the new class in their next community update.
