With only a week until July 7th, the date that marks Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary, Square Enix appears to be ramping things up. Having just announced a FINAL FANTASY IX Music Special Live Stream yesterday, the legendary Japanese publisher has revealed two upcoming Final Fantasy IX game collaborations.
In two posts made to the official FFIX 25th anniversary website, it was revealed that Final Fantasy IX would be collaborating with Emberstoria and Sengoku IXA. We will detail each collaboration below.

Emberstoria is a “strategic RPG set in Rengoku, a land of trials infested with magical beasts, where you can enjoy large-scale group (alliance) battles, such as battles with enemy forces and the defeat of large magical beasts. The player deciphers the changing battle situation in real time and aims to conquer the ‘tower’ (Kizahashi) in the center of the world. The player will develop the base facility using ‘construction’, ‘research’, ‘training’, and ‘resource production’, and will overcome numerous challenges with alliance members.”
The FFIX collaboration with Emberstoria runs from July 1st to July 30th and sees both Zidane Tribale and Vivi Ornitier join the game as new “Emverses”, along with the addition of Tonberry as a new “field demon beast”.

You can watch the announcement trailer for this collaboration below, or on the official Square Enix YouTube channel.
You can get all the details for this event, including login bonuses and incentives for new and returning players, in the announcement post.
The second Final Fantasy IX game collaboration is with Sengoku IXA, which is “a game in which players belong to their favorite daimyo families and aim to unify the world. The many warlords that appear in the game are depicted in a variety of visuals, and not only the famous warlords that everyone knows, but also many maniacal warlords that are irresistible to Sengoku fans also appear. Introduced in 2010 as a PC browser game, it has been optimized to be played on smartphones and has been developed with many players. As long as there is no troublesome installation and an environment connected to the Internet, you can enjoy it anytime, anywhere on your computer or smartphone.”
The FFIX collaboration with Sengoku IXA will run from July 1st through to August 7th, and has several FFIX cast members being added to this strategic card game.

There appear to be several ways to earn these new FFIX additions to Sengoku IXA, and we would recommend visiting the official collaboration page or the announcement article for more details.
The last detail from these announcements is that there will be a lottery being run on the official Sengoku IXA twitter/x account, where four people will be awarded a figure of Mowgli from Final Fantasy IX, and five others will win an “Eraberu Pay” worth Â¥3,000. The lottery will run from July 1st to July 31st.

While it certainly feels like Square Enix is building up to Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary in a big way, with merchandise and events announced pretty regularly, we still have no clarification on whether or not we will see the long rumoured FFIX Remake on July 7th, or ever, for that matter.

If only there was Square mobile game they could run their own collab through…oh wait, there was, but they killed global support for it 2 months ago…
Indeed I still can’t believe they ended service before their FFlX Collab.
