For the last few months, Square Enix has been revealing a growing range of merchandise and events for the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX. Today, July 30th, they announced that there would be a FINAL FANTASY IX Music Special Live Stream taking place on July 7th, the official day of Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary.
The announcement was posted to the official FFIX 25th anniversary site that Square Enix launched earlier this year, and shared via the publisher’s social media accounts.
The two time zones listed are:
July 6th 8:00pm to July 8th 5:00am (PDT)
July 7th 4:00am to July 8th 1:00pm (BST)
The announcement comes with a message from Square Enix, confirming that all tracks in the FFIX soundtrack will be played.
“To commemorate the 25th anniversary of “FINAL FANTASY IX”, the music will be live-streamed on the SQUARE ENIX MUSIC Channel!
To coincide with the game’s release date, all the songs related to the game will be broadcast!
Let’s celebrate the 25th anniversary of “Final Fantasy IX” while enjoying music!”
This isn’t the first reveal to do with FFIX’s music, with Square Enix having a trio of music boxes and a commemorative vinyl featuring new and original recordings of Melodies of Life. We are only a week away from Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary, and while fans will no doubt appreciate the attention that the much-loved JRPG has received from Square Enix, it will likely do little to temper their desire for information about the much-rumoured FFIX remake. First seen as part of the 2021 Nvidia leak, alongside games like the Final Fantasy Tactics remake, it is the only title on the list that has not come to light.
