Idle Waters Review

When you’re productive, do you find that you stay on task better when you have a second form of stimulation? Something predictable that helps keep your attention without distracting you from your job? Maybe you listen to a podcast or music, but have you tried an idle game? Idle Waters by Ignita Games, is a non intrusive idle fishing game that sits at the bottom of your screen providing passive gameplay as you’re engaged in other activities or going about your work day.

Idle Waters provides passive gameplay as you go about your workday.

Gameplay

Idle Waters gameplay revolves around an adorable tanuki set out on a fishing adventure. Sell fish and other caught items to help buy new fishing rod levels, auto fishing speeds, aquariums to house your fish, and even a boat to explore new areas. Continue to complete your collection by catching all 100 fish species with their color variants among 12 different biomes. There’s even legendary fish to find.

Upgrade your fishing rod to watch new fish species!

Visiting new biomes can unlock quests from adorable animals you meet along the way. They’ll ask for different fish or items in exchange for coins. Items can be found while fishing or as gifts from your aquarium fish . You even make friends with an adorable cat who for the small price of a fish will return with found items that can help you complete quests.

Let your cat friend help you find items to fulfil quests.

Unlike other titles, where fishing is a mini game, Idle Waters makes the mechanics very simple. A little bubble will appear over the tanuki’s head when they’ve caught something. Simply click the tanuki to reel in the item. Because this game operates passively in the background, you can choose when to engage. Idle Waters will wait for you to click and catch, or turn on auto fish and sell and let the game make money for you.

Customization

While there is no customizing your character in Idle Waters as of yet, there is customizing your gameplay to best integrate into your workflow without being a distraction.

First off upon startup you can disable the pixel font if it doesn’t work for you. In settings, you have the ability to change the in game sounds. A slide knob gives you control over background ambience, music, and notifications. You can also enable/disable what you would like to see. Change how you view the border, background, decoration, and interactable arrows.

Ignita Games also gave players resize settings. Change the layout, how it fits your screen, if it sits on top of other windows, or even hiding it completely. Idle Waters gives players full adaptability in how they want to interact with the game.

Ability to intigrate Idle Waters into your workflow without it being a distraction with resize settings.
