Back in 2020 a small indie game from unknown studio Out of the Blue dropped a gem of a game in Call of the Sea. Today at the Future Game Show the studio alongside new publisher Kwalee announced the highly anticipated sequel Call of the Elder Gods.
Call of the Elder Gods is set 30 years after the events of Call of the Sea taking us to the 1960s. Players will go on an adventure with Harry Everhart and Evangeline Drayton as they look for their lost loved ones. If that sounds familiar, it is the same premise as the first game when you played as Norah looking for her lost husband on an island. Harry was the missing husband of Norah from Call of the Sea.
Also familiar will be the gameplay. Call of the Elder Gods will be another puzzle-based adventure game. You will be spending the majority of your time finding clues and navigating a variety of puzzles while you unlock the mysteries of the world and find those loved ones. One key difference between Call of the Elder Gods and its predecessor is that you will be able to play both characters. You will be required to swap back and forth between the two in order to solve many of the puzzles.
While the premise may be the same, the setting couldn’t be further from Call of the Sea. Replacing the gorgeous island setting, Harry and Evangeline will travel through time and space to the corners of the world.

The story is inspired by H P Lovecraft’s ‘The Shadow out of Time’ and the game will be fully voice acted. Cissy Jones returns, this time to play Evangeline. Yuri Lowenthal, known for Spider-Man and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, will voice reprise his role as Harry once again.Â
New Publisher Means New Opportunity
As mentioned earlier, Out of the Blue has picked up a new publisher for Call of the Elder Gods with UK based Kwalee taking over from Raw Fury. While we don’t know why the change, it appears that both parties involved couldn’t be happier.
“We’ve been fortunate to work with Kwalee "” they’re fans of our games and share our passion for crafting high-quality experiences with care and dedication. We couldn't ask for a better partner on this journey,” said Tatiana Delgado, co-founder and creative director at Out of the Blue Games.

“We're really excited to be teaming up with Out of the Blue on Call of the Elder Gods. They've already shown what they're capable of with Call of the Sea and American Arcadia,” said Benjamin Forrester, VP of PC & Console at Kwalee. “Their talent for storytelling and clever puzzle design is something we truly admire and we think players are going to love what's coming next.”
Everything we’ve seen so far, which admittedly isn’t much, is pointing to a much more refined experience and potentially a much bigger experience. We will have to wait and see. While we have no release date the game is “coming soon” to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
