Whilst many people were expecting to wait a few more days for the full reveal of IO Interactive’s James Bond 007 game at the developers own showcase, it was a surprise to see the reveal trailer at today’s PlayStation State of Play.

From the trailer’s description: “In 007 First Light, follow James Bond as a young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless recruit in MI6’s training program, and discover an origin story of the world’s most famous spy.”

The trailer gives us a glimpse of our new Bond, a younger charismatic character who will be on a globetrotting adventure. We start by seeing M talking about Bond’s, saying he is “a bullet without a target. Lets give him one”.

We are also introduced to Q and many of the wild inventions that MI6 will provide our arsenal to play with when the game arrives.

Inspiration from IO Interactive’s other flagship series, Hitman are clear in the trailer as Bond embarks on espionage stealth action to take down bad guys. The trailer also features car chases and you guessed it, an Aston Martin.

It is fantastic to finally see the game that has long been in development by IO Interactive, who many would argue are the perfect custodians for a Bond game owing to their Hitman credentials.

The trailer finishes by confirming a gameplay reveal will take place this summer.
